DragonWave announced its initial public offering on the TSX, April 19, 2007, consisting of 7,595,000 DragonWave common shares at a price of CDN$3.95 per share.

Backhaul in a mobile network refers to the infrastructure used to transport data, voice, video and other communications from the base station (i.e. cell site) to the backbone network, using either wired or wireless technology.

DragonWave has both packet microwave and packet convergence products. The DragonWave family of high-capacity packet microwave products delivers unprecedented capacity and spectral efficiency, meeting the stringent requirements of carrie-class networks. The DragonWave packet convergence platforms enable a gradual evolution from TDM to packet based networks.

There are only two viable technologies for 4G mobile backhaul - optical fiber and high-capacity packet microwave technologies. Optical fiber is a distance - sensitive solution, the greater the distance, the higher the cost. High-capacity packet microwave is distant -insensitive, to the first order. The greater the distance, the greater the economic balance shifts in favor of high-capacity packet microwave over optical fiber.

DragonWave has more than 300 customers in over 80 countries. DragonWave`s primary customers are mobile network operators, and multiple system operators (MSO). DragonWave also serves customers in a range of fields, including public safety organizations, government departments and agencies, and private enterprises.

The market for high-capacity packet microwave is large and growing, which attracts competition. Our closest peer group competitors are Ceragon Networks and Aviat Networks. In addition, a number of legacy telecom equipment providers address the market.
